Studio Saturday: Andare Bangle Bracelet Part 2

Hi friends! We’re excited to share Part 2 of our new Studio Saturday blog series, which will give you behind-the-scenes/snapshots of the making of our newest bk&leo pieces!

When we last left off, the negative space to form the infinity space had been hollowed out, and this is the point to abandon the numbers/measurements and trust your eye a bit to file down the piece to the thinness you’re going after and define the details. At the end, we wanted about 1mm thickness because any thinner and the wax piece is way too delicate, but anything more and we’re talking about a very heavy (and pricey) piece.

And then we file (and carve the detail)…

And file (next to its little sibling, the Andare infinity ring)…

And file some more…

And then when we reached the desired thinness (24+ hours of filing later), we then drilled out the inside to hollow it out some. We left a bit of extra thickness in the top detail/layer so stones can be set.

So at last, the wax piece is done and off to casting! Coming soon to bk&leo homepage.
